The Museum is housed in a three-floor building, purchased by the city\u00a0council in 2003 thanks to the economic contribution of Mr. David Melul. The building\u00a0was restored to be used as museum by COMARQ-IV, its architect was Mr. Jos\u00e9 Luis\u00a0Rodr\u00edguez Ant\u00fanez.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On the ground floor you will find information about the history of the Spanish Jews,\u00a0including their presence in Bejar and its county<\/strong>. Items of particular importance are the\u00a0Bejar Charter, which included the rules of cohabitation between its Christians,\u00a0Muslims and Jewish residents , the gravestone of lady Fadue\u00f1a (from the 12th or 13th\u00a0century.) The gravestone was found, in perfect condition, in the 19th century, along\u00a0with several originals items used in sacred ceremonies (Menorah, Megillot, Tefillim y\u00a0Tallitot\u2026) as well as object of daily life in the Middle Ages such as coins, purchasing\u00a0and sales documents, etcetera. The tour in this floor ends with an audiovisual media\u00a0exhibit about the Order of Expulsion of 1492.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.museojudiobejar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Detalle-de-Tora-e1436271079651.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-11037\" src=\"http:\/\/www.museojudiobejar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Detalle-de-Tora-e1436271079651-239x300.jpg\" alt=\"Detalle de Tor\u00e1\" width=\"239\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.museojudiobejar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Detalle-de-Tora-e1436271079651-239x300.jpg 239w, https:\/\/www.museojudiobejar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Detalle-de-Tora-e1436271079651.jpg 716w, https:\/\/www.museojudiobejar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Detalle-de-Tora-e1436271079651-815x1024.jpg 815w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 239px) 100vw, 239px\" \/><\/a><strong>The Museum\u2019s first floor is dedicated to the Spanish &#8216;conversos&#8217;<\/strong> (Sephardic Jews who\u00a0were forced to convert to Christianity in order to avoid expulsion). Visitors will see a\u00a0beautiful scaled reproduction of the city of Bejar in the 15h century, where they will be\u00a0able to locate its Jewish neighborhood. Also are displayed, are some documents\u00a0related to inquisitorial trials, a 17th century Megillah Esther, examples of anti-Semitic\u00a0books about so called purity of blood and works related to a most curious resident of\u00a0Bejar, of probable Jewish origin: Mr. Frances de Zuniga, who served as Court\u00a0jester for emperor Charles V and is well known as the author of a scathingly he wrote\u00a0his burlesque court chronicle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On the second floor, ending the cycle dedicated to the faithful who chose to maintain\u00a0their faith aware therefore forced to abandon Spain, there is an area devoted to their\u00a0exile<\/strong>.
